Touchscreen Object Recognition

Bespoke touchscreen object recognition technology can elevate the user experience, offering a new way to interact by utilising physical markers that are applied directly to the screen to trigger an action.

Zytronic develops solutions with bespoke, multi-touch object recognition, providing custom interactivity and unique functionality, tailored to your individual business.

Elevate the user experience with movable, bespoke objects today and provide your staff and potential customers with a new, immersive way to interface.

What are object-recognition touchscreens?

Our object-recognition touch solutions work via passive conducive markers integrated into the base of specially designed objects, that we refer to as ‘pucks’. These pucks replicate touch points, activating a selection on the touchscreen.

We have developed special firmware and output protocol to accompany these pucks, identifying the unique pattern of each. This enables us to provide the information necessary for software developers to design unique graphical user interfaces (GUIs) so the screen reacts accordingly to the presence of the marker.

Object-recognition touchscreens benefit businesses, staff and potential customers, providing an intuitive experience with the physical markers that encourages playful and innovative interaction, without compromising on accuracy.

These forms of touch solutions are great for use within the retail and hospitality sectors. Installed in restaurants or bars, they offer customers the autonomy to complete their order themselves, and further your brand recognition by using a brand-specific puck.

Similarly, object-recognition touch solutions in retail environments could help customers learn more about a potential purchase, utilising pucks incorporating either the physical item, or models of the item, to trigger the display for further information.

What types of objects can be recognised by our touch solutions?

Our object-recognition touchscreens recognise Zytronic-design-specific pucks that interact with Zytronic-specific firmware via a Zytronic PCAP controller and sensor combination.

These pucks can be personalised to further enhance the user experience, with objects relating to products, such as model cars, watches and more. Creating entirely custom pucks will not only further your brand recognition, but also provide the user with a unique experience, adding extra value.

The touch surface of our object-recognition-enabled touchscreens remains active to all standard touch and gestures, while also responding accordingly to the Zytronic-developed markers.

Capacitive object recognition

Zytronic enables an enhanced interactive experience, utilising passive conductive markers integrated with specially designed objects, termed ‘pucks’. Our advanced firmware then identifies each puck’s unique pattern, allowing software and GUI developers to recognise and respond to the presence of that puck on the touch surface.

This technology offers a number of advantages, allowing for high sensitivity and responsiveness, as well as a precise user experience. Our object-recognition touchscreens also work in varied lighting situations, with no loss of accuracy.

If you are looking to install your touch solution in a particularly bright area where glare is a potential issue, we can offer further optical enhancements to prevent this and ensure the customer experience is not affected.

Interactive objects

We utilise orientated combinations of passive capacitive markers within our interactive pucks. Our advanced firmware then recognises the puck, based on a library of relevant marker configurations.

Multi-touch table object recognition

Object-recognition touchscreens that allow for multi-touch use provide the perfect way to elevate the interactive user experience.

These specific solutions are especially suitable for use in car showrooms, museums, galleries and retail locations, allowing staff and customers to reveal further information using an object shaped like the product.

For instance, a puck could be attached to the underside of a model car, which then reveals more information about the specifics of that car to potential buyers when applied to the screen.
