Zytronic Appoints New Managing Director

Zytronic, a developer and manufacturer of the internationally award-winning projected capacitive technology (PCT™) touch sensors and customised optical filters that enhance the performance of electronic displays, has appointed Mark Cambridge, BSc (Hons), formerly the company’s sales and marketing director, as the new managing director.

Cambridge has held a number of technical and senior positions within Zytronic over several years.   A graduate of Sunderland University, he first joined the company in 1991 – when it was then known as Romag Glass Products (RGP) – and filled the position of technical manager.  In this role, Cambridge developed and introduced a range of optical products which remain a significant and highly successful part of Zytronic’s business today.

In 1995, Cambridge was technical and quality manager at the company and three years later, he took the role of technical and quality director and remained in that position for the next four years.  During that time Romag Glass Products Ltd was re-named ‘Zytronic’ (in 2000) and became listed on the LSE AIM in July of that year.  From 2000 – 2002, Cambridge oversaw the development and introduction to the market of the company’s flagship PCT- based touch sensor product called ZYTOUCH®, which is now an established choice in high-end touchscreen-based applications.

Cambridge was promoted to marketing and sales director in 2002 and during this time to the present, has overseen the continued success of the company’s PCT touch sensors.  Following the introduction of ZYPOS® and ZYSWITCH™, in 2005, for example, the company now offers designers and systems integrators several products within the PCT range from which to choose, and the touch sensor technology side of the business has now grown to close to 45% total business.  In addition to this, Cambridge developed an international market representation network across the USA, EMEA, Asia and Australasia, ensuring global access to, and local support for, Zytronic’s PCT technology.

Congratulating Cambridge on his promotion, John Kennair, MBE, Zytronic’s chairman says, “Mark has been an integral member of the Zytronic senior management team, and brings to this position a wealth of technical and commercial knowledge and expertise, that will continue to drive our aggressive growth strategy.  I am delighted that he has been appointed to this position.”
